Aircraft owner and builder.
Herb was a businessman
looking for a new adventure when he purchased an airport and a
Stearman project. That was 1989.
Fast forward to 2001.
The Stearman was awarded Grand Champion Antique at Sun-'n-Fun
fly in Lakeland Fl. For Herb it was a long but rewarding journey.
Along the way he learned to meld his 25 years of auto /truck restoration
experience to his new aviation adventure.
Through new friends
and educational courses he developed the skills and patience needed
to complete projects at the highest quality levels. Moving to
Florida in 1995, he arrived at Hobby Hill , a private, resident
owned airport, where he lives and works.
Along the way Herb
met Bill Thomas, a well regarded Pitts Driver. He became intrigued
with Bill's S2B and a checkout soon followed. That flight led
to Bill's aerobatic course and a continuing admiration for the
Pitts. Herb soon acquired his own Pitts, S -2A. Hundreds of hours
later the thrill of the Pitts Special is still there.
